Daniel Head

Studio Owner & Instructor

music: Traditional Yoga, Rock & Hip Hop

Daniel Head, born and raised in Redlands, CA has always had a love for his community and a dream to bring Power Yoga to this area. He has been teaching yoga in the Inland Empire for over 15 years now, during that time he has taught thousands of people. His classes are packed full of students (50-120 students a class) and attracts students from all across Southern California.

He loves to incorporate different music styles and genres into his classes. He has been very creative with the play lists he has organized. Daniel's intuitive gift to feel the vibe of the room results in a unique and powerful experience every time. His music can be loud at times, but will often be followed or replaced entirely by the soothing sound of his voice, showing his talent and one of a kind versatility. While Daniel loves the role of "Yoga DJ" he also enjoys instructing classes without the use of music, which can be more appropriate at times.

Daniel brought Power Vinyasa Yoga to the Redlands community when he opened The Yoga Room in 2003. The passion to share what he believes, to live the healthiest lifestyle, has inspired this community and many of his yoga students to follow their dreams and live life to the fullest.

He is grateful to all the wonderful instructors that he has learned from and continues to learn from. "Much love to Bryan Kest, Nora Mangiamele, Erika Burkhalter & Sarah Reese."

Karen began to focus her yoga practice when she moved to California in 2005. Naturally drawn to sharing the benefits of yoga and living more consciously, she decided to try teaching and completed her 200 hr Yoga Alliance Certification in 2009. Karen believes that by practicing mindfully you can learn so much about yourself, and that a "self" understanding is only the beginning. No one should ever be denied the opportunity to practice yoga. Her Beginner Power Yoga class offers elements of movement, breathing, awareness, alignment and fun. Please come and join the beginner class. Experience power yoga and the developmental change of life and movement. Props are encouraged in the class and you are welcome to bring your own. Karen's teaching style is a blend of Power & Vinyasa flow (Hatha) and Iyengar. She attributes her confidence and merge of styles from her wonderful teachers & friends, Lisa Aniello, Julie Wright, Christie Hall, Jessa Tarbert, and of course Daniel Head. Namaste

Jessica De La Tejera

Instructor

music: Kids Bop, Kids Kirtan & Bob Marley

Jessica has taught at the elementary level in the public school system for 13 years and has been practicing yoga religiously since 2009. She incorporates yoga into her daily classroom routine and has seen amazing growth in her students in their ability to focus, cultivate self-awareness, and manage stress. For her, no form of exercise has ever compared to the healing spiritual/mindful aspect of yoga, which is what has kept her completely dedicated to her practice and her desire to share her infectious love of yoga with her students.

Jessica is grateful for the opportunity to empower children at The Yoga Room with the knowledge that their breath is their "Jedi sword" in life. When children come back to class and say, "I tried that breathing exercise during math today and it worked!" Or when she sees her daughter bending her dolls into various postures and calling them by name, she knows that her work is powerfully transformative. Your kids will leave Jessica's class feeling calm, peaceful, and confident in their ability to learn and practice yoga.

Janet Viscome

Instructor

music: Club, Pop, Hip Hop, Rock & Traditional

Janet is available for private lessons: Call studio for booking times.

Music: Club, Pop, Hip Hop, Rock, and Traditional
A former ski racer and, later, ski and snowboard instructor, Janet’s passion for sports expanded when she moved to the west coast; adding cycling, mountain biking, water skiing, and wake surfing to her list of regular activities. In 1998, she was introduced to yoga in Santa Monica, trying a number of studios before practicing regularly with Bryan Kest. Although the physical element of yoga was the initial draw for Janet, she believes it was the release of mind “chatter” during the practice that actually hooked her; providing a sense of both calmness and exhilaration she hadn’t experienced in other activities.
Practicing at the Yoga Room since 2011, Janet experienced a deeper connection to her practice. Realizing yoga was going to be a lifelong journey and dedication; she received her RYT 200 in 2012. Understanding injuries and limitations, Janet’s beginner classes focus on alignment and modifications as well as motivation and acceptance; traditional and rock music are played at moderate levels. Her more advanced classes challenge the mind and body, occasionally adding pilates into the mix, but remain focused on alignment and self-motivation; club, pop, and hip hop music is played at louder levels.
From her own experience, Janet believes yoga counters the negative effects of sedentary a work life and high impact sports. She is excited to share her love of yoga with The Yoga Room family.
